Tips for Webmasters
By Teahon
No matter how you became a webmaster of your website, there can be no ignoring that at some stage you will want to be able to gauge how well your website is performing, and how you can improve it.
There are a few established rules that can achieve some results this to end, and they are as follows.
SEO, or search engine optimisation.
Direct marketing such as email advertising, and Internet ads such as Google Adwords.
Using social media to promote your site.
To get the most from these methods it is best if you research and customise your approach to the subject matter of the site. For example, I am currently the webmaster for three sites.
www.playgameshavefun.com a children's website.
www.link-optimise.com an SEO website
www.teahon.co.uk, a website showcasing my work and services as a freelance writer.
Obviously, the ways in which I promote these sites are different in each case. So the importance of research can not be overstated.
In general use social media networks to promote anything new. Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Delicious are always good choices, but feel free to explore. Bear in mind that you can link many social networks to the four mentioned above and to each other. This will save you a lot of time in the long run.
Ensure your tags are descriptive as these are what search engines look for when they crawl a website, and tell always make sure the content of your site, is on the money.
